Keeping gas on a fix while electricity is on Intelligent Go
Can your gas stay on a fixed tariff while your electricity moves to Octopus Go or Intelligent Go? How the two fuels work separately.
Edited by Rob Gibbs. Published: . Guidance reviewed: .
Short answer
Yes. There is no Go tariff for gas: Octopus Go and Intelligent Go are electricity-only. Dual-fuel customers choose a separate gas tariff, such as a fix or Flexible. You can even take electricity only from Octopus and keep gas with another supplier.
Two fuels, two tariffs
Octopus explains that gas prices do not vary much through the day, so a time-of-use gas tariff would offer little. That is why the EV tariffs are electricity-only and gas sits on its own tariff.
Your options
Combinations that work:
- Electricity on Intelligent Go or Go, gas on an Octopus fix.
- Electricity on Intelligent Go, gas on Flexible or Tracker gas.
- Electricity only with Octopus, gas with another supplier.
Timing a change
If your gas is fixed with another supplier, moving electricity alone can avoid an early exit fee on the gas. Switch the gas later, inside its last 49 days.
