About Flexible Octopus Economy 7

This is Flexible Octopus read on an Economy 7 meter, which records electricity on two registers and charges a separate rate for each: a lower one for a block of overnight hours and a higher one for everything else. This page publishes both rates as the catalogue holds them. It does not rank this tariff against the others and does not show an annual cost, because working one out means deciding which half hours belong to the night register, and that switching time is set per meter and per region and is not published anywhere this site can read.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Why is there no annual cost on this page?
Costing a dual-register tariff means assigning every half hour of consumption to either the day rate or the night rate. The time at which the meter switches over is configured per meter and varies by region, and no supplier publishes it, so any annual figure would rest on a guess. This site would rather show you the two rates than invent a total.
Why is this tariff not in the rankings?
For the same reason. A ranking needs one comparable number per tariff, and that number cannot be produced honestly for a two-register tariff without knowing the switching time for your particular meter.
When exactly does the night rate apply?
Somewhere in the small hours, for a block of roughly seven hours, but the precise start depends on how your meter was configured and on your region. Your bill or your in-home display is the reliable source for your own meter; it is not in any published dataset.
