We are committed to ensuring that OctoTariffs is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

Conformance Status

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. We continuously work to improve accessibility and remove barriers.

Accessibility Features

• Semantic HTML: All pages use proper heading hierarchy and semantic HTML5 elements
• Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard
• Focus Indicators: Clear visual focus indicators for keyboard navigation
• Alternative Text: All charts include descriptive titles and descriptions
• Tables: Data tables include proper captions, headers, and scope attributes
• Color Contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (minimum 4.5:1)
• Static content without JavaScript: Static explanatory content works without JavaScript. The interactive region finder and scheduling tools require JavaScript; the native finder fallback fails closed for privacy rather than navigating with a postcode.
• Private account tools: The private account tools require JavaScript and keep the account interaction in the browser. The private usage, data-gap, comparison, and custom tariff pages keep the account interaction in the browser, so their static explanation remains available without JavaScript but the private connection and local editor require JavaScript.
• Responsive Design: Layout adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels
• Skip Links: Quick navigation to main content (where applicable)

This site has been designed to work with common screen readers including:

• VoiceOver (macOS, iOS)
• TalkBack (Android)

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to address them:

• SVG charts may not be fully accessible to all assistive technologies
• Some complex data tables may be challenging to navigate with screen readers

Older browsers may have reduced functionality but core content should remain accessible.

Third-Party Content

Prices shown here come from a database of Octopus's published tariffs rather than from Octopus's own site, so the pages you read are ours and the accessibility of them is our responsibility. Where we link out to Octopus — and for the postcode lookup, which queries them directly — we have no control over the accessibility of their services.

Private region finder

The labelled region finder sends a postcode transiently in a POST request body. It never enters this site's browser-visible URL, storage, cache, logs, or response. Its status messages and region result are available to assistive technology.

The private account tools also use labelled forms, live status, and alert states. They keep the account interaction in the browser, fail closed for privacy, and leave the static explanation available when scripting is unavailable.

The public rate alert form has explicit labels, keyboard-operable controls, bounded numeric input, and a live status message for signup, confirmation, and unsubscribe outcomes. Its explanatory content remains available without JavaScript.
