The last 48 months across Great Britain

Octopus Fixed monthly rates averaged across the regions of Great BritainOctopus Fixed monthly rates averaged across the regions of Great Britain from Oct 2022 to Sept 2026. Ranges from 25.83p to 29.14p per kWh. Most recent period Sept 2026: 27.50p per kWh, counted from 9 of 30 days. 2 periods are drawn from part of the calendar rather than all of it: Aug 2026 (29 of 31 days), Sept 2026 (9 of 30 days). A month is partly counted where a version went on or came off sale inside it, and the current month is always still in progress.25.83p26.65p27.48p28.31p29.14pOct 2022Oct 23Sept 24Sept 25Sept 202627.50p latest

Points are interactive: hover, focus or select one for exact values. The line is the plain average of the regional monthly means — all 14 regions, in every month — and the shaded band runs from the cheapest of those regions to the dearest in that month. So the band is the spread BETWEEN regions, not the spread within a month — a regional page’s chart shows the latter. Nobody pays the line; it describes the country rather than a bill. 2 periods are drawn from part of the calendar rather than all of it: Aug 2026 (29 of 31 days), Sept 2026 (9 of 30 days). A month is partly counted where a version went on or came off sale inside it, and the current month is always still in progress. They are drawn hollow.

About Octopus Fixed

Lock in your electricity rate for the length of the contract. Your unit rate and standing charge are fixed for the term, which protects you from price rises and provides certainty. No matter what happens to wholesale prices or the price cap, your rate stays the same for the full term, so you know exactly what you'll pay each month, making it easier to budget and plan your finances. A fixed tariff is ideal for customers who want price certainty and protection from price rises, those who prefer to budget with fixed monthly costs, people who don't want to monitor energy prices or switch tariffs frequently, and anyone comfortable with a commitment to a fixed rate.

Questions, answered

What is Octopus Fixed?
Octopus Fixed is a fixed-rate electricity tariff where your unit rate and standing charge are locked in for the length of the contract. This protects you from price increases during the fixed term.
How long is the fixed term?
The fixed term is set by the product itself, most commonly 12 months. During this period, your rates will not change, regardless of what happens to wholesale energy prices or the Ofgem price cap.
What happens when the fixed term ends?
After your fixed term ends, you'll typically be moved to Octopus's standard variable tariff (Flexible Octopus) unless you choose to switch to another tariff or supplier.
Are there exit fees?
Most fixed-rate tariffs have exit fees if you leave before the end of the fixed term. Check the specific terms of your tariff for details on any exit fees.
Do I need a smart meter for a fixed tariff?
No, a fixed tariff works with any meter type. However, having a smart meter can provide better usage insights and more accurate billing.
How does Fixed compare to Flexible?
Fixed offers price certainty for the length of the term, while Flexible rates can change quarterly. Fixed protects you from price rises but you won't benefit if prices fall. Flexible offers more flexibility to switch.
Can I switch during the fixed term?
You can switch to another supplier or tariff during the fixed term, but you may be charged exit fees. Check your tariff terms for specific details.
