About Outgoing Octopus Prime

Outgoing Octopus Prime is a banded export tariff attached to customers who bought their solar or battery system through Octopus. Like the other banded export products it pays different amounts at different times of day rather than a single flat rate, with the highest band covering the hours when the grid is under most pressure. This page shows the rates the product publishes in each region; it does not attempt to say who qualifies for it, which is a matter for the supplier rather than something visible in the rate data.

Who is Prime for?
It is tied to customers who bought their generation or storage equipment through Octopus. The rates are published per region like any other product, but eligibility is a condition of the product rather than something the rate data records.
Does the Ofgem price cap apply to this tariff?
No. The cap constrains what you are charged for the energy you use, and it does not apply to what you are paid for the energy you export, so there is no cap figure for these rates to be compared with.
How does Prime differ from the flat Outgoing tariff?
Prime pays by time band, so the same exported unit is worth different amounts depending on when it leaves the house. The flat Outgoing tariff pays one rate at every hour of the day.
