Ranges from 6.62p to 26.15p per kWh. Most recent period Sept 2026: 14.03p per kWh, counted from 11 of 30 days. One period is drawn from part of the calendar rather than all of it: Sept 2026 (11 of 30 days). A month is partly counted where a version went on or came off sale inside it, and the current month is always still in progress.6.62p11.50p16.38p21.27p26.15pOct 2022Oct 23Sept 24Sept 25Sept 202614.03p latest

Points are interactive: hover, focus or select one for exact values. The line is the plain average of the regional monthly means — all 14 regions, in every month — and the shaded band runs from the lowest-paying of those regions to the highest-paying in that month. So the band is the spread BETWEEN regions, not the spread within a month — a regional page’s chart shows the latter. Nobody pays the line; it describes the country rather than a bill. One period is drawn from part of the calendar rather than all of it: Sept 2026 (11 of 30 days). A month is partly counted where a version went on or came off sale inside it, and the current month is always still in progress. They are drawn hollow.

About Outgoing Octopus Agile

Outgoing Octopus Agile pays you a half-hourly rate for the electricity you send to the grid, and that rate follows the wholesale market in the same way the import Agile tariff does. Rates for the following day are published in the afternoon, so a battery or a smart inverter can be told to hold power back and release it into the best-paying half hours, typically the evening peak when demand is highest and generation is scarcest. Because the rate moves every thirty minutes, what you earn depends as much on when you export as on how much you export.

Essentials

You need

  • Eligible generation and an export-capable smart-meter setup confirmed by Octopus.
  • Any required solar eligibility or compatibility confirmed before switching.

Best fit

Works best if

  • Your usage or export can respond to changing half-hourly prices.

Check carefully

Watch out for

  • Export rates are payments, not discounts to subtract from an assumed import bill.

Pairing

Compatible export choices

  • This is an export product; verify which import tariff Octopus permits it to be paired with.

Make the final check

How to verify or switch

  1. Check the exact tariff name, product version, regional quote, eligibility and current terms with Octopus Energy.
  2. Use OctoTariffs history and calculators as evidence, not as a supplier quote or guarantee of future cost.

Questions, answered

How is an export rate different from an import rate?
An export rate is what you are paid for the electricity you send to the grid, not what you are charged for the electricity you take from it. The two are separate rates recorded on separate meter registers, and a high export rate is good news where a high import rate is not.
Does the Ofgem price cap apply to this tariff?
No. The price cap limits what a supplier may charge you for the energy you use, and it says nothing about what a supplier pays you for the energy you export. Measuring an export rate against the cap compares it with a number that does not apply to it.
What does a half-hourly export tariff need?
An export MPAN and a smart meter capable of recording export in half-hourly periods. Without half-hourly export readings there is no way to work out which rate each exported unit earned.
