An export rate is what Octopus pays you for electricity you send back to the grid. It never gets subtracted from an assumed import bill, and it’s never compared against the price cap — the cap governs what you can be charged, not what you’re paid.

Payments are profile-weighted across half-hour slots over the last complete calendar month. Export tariffs carry no standing charge, so there is nothing to hold separately — and they are never compared against the price cap, which governs what you can be charged rather than what you are paid.
