The Octopus app: what it does and where to find things
What you can do in the Octopus Energy app: readings, usage, payments, tariff changes, Octoplus and smart device control.

Short answer
The Octopus Energy app (iOS and Android) covers most of your account. You can submit readings, see your half-hourly usage, check your balance and change your Direct Debit. You can also change tariff, join Octoplus sessions and, on smart tariffs, connect and control an EV, charger, battery or heat pump.
Everyday account tasks
The things most people use it for:
- Submitting meter readings (if your meter is not smart).
- Checking your balance and changing your payment amount or date.
- Seeing usage by day, week and half hour.
- Finding bills and statements.
Smart tariffs and devices
On Intelligent Go you set your car’s charge level and ready time in the app. Battery and heat pump tariffs connect the device there too. Charge Pack and Streams also live in the app.
Rewards
The Octoplus tab shows your Octopoints, upcoming Saving Sessions and Power Ups, and lets you turn points into account credit.
Questions people ask
Can I change tariff in the Octopus app?
Yes, in most cases, if you are on a variable tariff or near the end of a fixed one.
Why does the app not match my bill?
Usually because of missing half-hourly data or because the app shows energy only, without standing charges and VAT.
