Points are interactive: hover, focus or select one for exact values. Shaded band is the lowest-to-highest paid spread within each month; the line is the duration-weighted mean. 2 periods are drawn from part of the calendar rather than all of it: Oct 2024 (4 of 31 days), Sept 2026 (9 of 30 days). A month is partly counted where a version went on or came off sale inside it, and the current month is always still in progress. They are drawn hollow.
Each month shows the version of Outgoing Octopus you could actually have signed up to then, so the line follows the tariff through its successive versions rather than any one product code. Older versions carry on publishing rates for months after they stop selling; those are not averaged in, because nobody could buy them. Drawn from the stored daily rollups across every payment method the tariff publishes; where a tariff publishes more than one, the rates above show the direct-debit one and this line sits between them.

There is no price cap comparison on this page. The cap limits what a supplier can charge you, not what it pays you for export, so comparing an export rate against it would compare against a number that does not apply.

About Outgoing Octopus
Outgoing Octopus is the flat-rate version of the export tariff: one rate for every unit of electricity you send to the grid, whatever time of day it leaves the house. It suits an export setup that cannot easily be shifted, solar panels with no battery for instance, which generate when the sun is out rather than when the grid is short. There is nothing to schedule and nothing to watch: the rate is the rate, and what you earn is the rate multiplied by the units you export.
