Typical

This tariff's rate does not change through the day, so there is no next rate, no cheapest and no dearest to show separately.

These are gas rates, in pence per kWh of gas. They are not comparable with the electricity rates elsewhere on this site: a kWh of gas and a kWh of electricity cost different amounts and do different work.

This is the gas page. See the main Flexible Octopus page.

Points are interactive: hover, focus or select one for exact values. Shaded band is the cheapest-to-dearest spread within each month; the line is the duration-weighted mean. One period is drawn from part of the calendar rather than all of it: Sept 2026 (22 of 30 days). A month is partly counted where a version went on or came off sale inside it, and the current month is always still in progress. They are drawn hollow.

Each month shows the version of Flexible Octopus Gas you could actually have signed up to then, so the line follows the tariff through its successive versions rather than any one product code. Older versions carry on publishing rates for months after they stop selling; those are not averaged in, because nobody could buy them. Drawn from the stored daily rollups across every payment method the tariff publishes; where a tariff publishes more than one, the rates above show the direct-debit one and this line sits between them.

There is no price cap comparison on this page. Ofgem caps gas and electricity separately, and the comparison this site makes is against the electricity cap, so there is nothing here a gas rate can honestly be measured against.

About Flexible Octopus Gas

Flexible Octopus is Octopus Energy's standard variable tariff, and this page shows its gas rates. As with the electricity version there is a single rate that applies whenever you use gas, reviewed periodically rather than held for a term, and no fixed contract to leave. Rates here are pence per kilowatt hour of gas. That is not the same unit of account as an electricity rate even though it reads identically, so the two should never be compared with one another or added together as though they were a single price.
